Looking for something inspiring to do in the DC area this weekend or next Friday? There are some extremely cool things going on in the next ten days I thought you might be interested in. First, I suggest stopping by the portrait society conference on Saturday. While you need a conference pass to get into the actual sessions, I think they allow you to look at some of the paintings and get into the vendor section for free - so it's worth dropping by for inspiration.
There is also an amazing exhibit of competition winners in DC at the national portrait gallery which is free and open to the public.
*and* last but certainly not least, remember to attend the Sherrie McGraw reception at 7:00 in Coomber Hall, 1521 Dranesville Road, Herndon, VA 20170 on Friday April 30th. It is free and open to the public. Come meet the artist then hear a talk Sherrie, an engaging and famous master painter during the "Minds Wide Open" campaign for women in the arts. Sponsored by the Herndon Council for the arts with great thanks to organizer Vicky Dorman.
This is my reminder to myself to check out American Painting Video Magazine in April. If you're looking into it too, feel free add your comments, ideas, opinions about it here. I'm really curious about this. I happened across it in February and my imagination has been buzzing with ideas of great it "could" be. Of course ... we need to see.
