Value & Color: Perception vs Reality

This site has a new "Illusion" to consider each day. Thank you to our friend and portrait model John Smith (Smitty) for sending it.

On the day John sent this to me, there was an illusion proving that the human eye can easily confuse matching values and perceive them almost at opposite ends of the spectrum. Although we were taught this in grade school, I admit that seeing it was a good reminder to pay attention to the possible illusions as I go out for another day of landscape painting today.

Enjoy the beautiful weather!
