Thank you to everyone who entered the Expressions Portrait Competition and who came to the awards ceremony. It was a fun and beautiful event and I hope those who couldn’t make it will go to view the stunning exhibit which will be at ArtSpace Gallery through October 25th. A lecture by artist Maggie Siner to be held on Friday, October 16th, 7pm.



About the lecture:
The Painter's Secret Geometry lecture will take the listener on a surprise journey through the structure of a Rembrandt self-portrait, revealing its beautiful and sophisticated hidden geometry that underlies the composition of many great paintings.

About Maggie Siner:
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Siner began her studies at the Art Students League of New York in 1968, then graduated from Boston University (BFA, 1973) and American University (MFA, 1976) where she studied with Robert D'Arista. She subsequently lived for extended periods in France and China. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums for over 30 years and is in hundreds of private collections around the world.

She has been on the faculty of l'Institute d'Universités Américaines and the Lacoste School of Art in France (Cleveland Institute of Art), a visiting professor at Xiamen University in China, artist in residence at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Dean of Faculty at the Washington Studio School and teaches master classes around the country. She is a frequent guest artist and public speaker known for her lectures on painting.

Great Falls Studios Sixth Annual Tour 2009
On Saturday, October 17 and Sunday, October 18 : 10am-5pm 44 artists in Great Falls will be opening up their studios all around our village for you to see where we work, talk to us about our art, watch us work. You can download a map and lots of info about the art and artists at the Great Falls Studios web site (www.GreatFallsStudios.com). Or, you can pick up booklets at various venues around town -- all of the studios including the Artists' Atelier- http://www.greatfallsfoundationforarts.org/Artists_Atelier.html Before you come, you are invited to register for a prize worth $50 toward purchase of art on the Tour (registration is free).
